Shown to the left is a typical failure of another manufacturer 2000 kVA substation transformer. The short circuit forces have made this unit spiral out the top of the windings. In a redesign, additional bracing and the use of a Epoxy diamond Kraft paper which will be thermally set , will help in the reduction of future problems. In applications where excessive short circuit is available, it is best to use a transformer with a cylindrical design coil. With high voltage applications voltages to 69,000 Delta and above this is preferred.

Custom sizes for direct replacement of an existing transformer or transformers with special bushing locations, air terminal chambers, or other special requirements pose no problems to Delcor Power.
